- All currencies can be stored to an unlimited amount unless otherwise stated.
- All currencies are Soulbound, for use by the character that earned them, unless otherwise stated.
- Many currencies can be used to buy ‘Bound to Account’ items which can be sent to your alts using the mail.
- A few of the Historic currencies can still be earned, but cannot be spent.
Coin
Coin is the most basic of currencies, used in all areas of the game.
Platinum, Gold, and Silver
Useful at end game?: Yes
Expansion: Used in all expansions.
Where to find it: In the Currency tab of your character screen.
Source: Earned from pretty much every activity.
Spend: Used to buy many items, including mounts, pets, crafting supplies, other fluff items, gear, dimension items, etc. This is also the currency used for trading with other players via the Auction House.
Premium Currencies
Premium Currencies are real money. Only Credits can be bought directly. Affinity, Prize Tickets, and Referral Coins are all earned indirectly as rewards for spending money/credits. Premium currencies are primarily used for fluff and QoL purchases. See Purchasing Page for more info.
Credits
Useful at end game?: Yes – For fluff and QoL.
Expansion: Used in all expansions.
Where to find it: In the Currency tab of your character screen.
Source: Real Money can be used to buy credits, or you can buy REX from other players using Platinum. Credits are account wide.
Spend: Use it to buy QoL upgrades and Fluff items.. NEVER use it to buy gear, there is no need!
Affinity
Useful at end game?: Yes – For fluff.
Expansion: Used in all expansions.
Where to find it: In the Currency tab of your character screen.
Source: Affinity is earned by logging in each day with an active patron sub. You get 5 for the first log in of the day and then 1 per hour for 3 hours, with a total max of 8 per day. You can also collect Affinity from day 7 of the rewards calendar. Affinity is cluster wide.
Spend: Spend it in the Affinity Rewards tab of the Rift Store. Get the Opie mount first then whatever you like after!
Prize Ticket
Useful at end game?: Yes – For fluff.
Expansion: Used in all expansions.
Where to find it: In the Currency tab of your character screen.
Source: Opening a Supply Crate will give you up to 3 Prize Tickets (unless you loot the mount from the Crate).
Spend: Prize tickets can be spent in the ‘Prize Ticket Rewards’ section of the rift store.
Referral Coins
Useful at end game?: Yes – For fluff.
Expansion: Used in all expansions.
Where to find it: In the Currency tab of your character screen.
Source: Referral Coins are earned via the referral system (Ascend-a-Friend). This currency is account wide.
Spend: They can be spent in the ‘Referral Rewards’ section of the rift store.
Individual Rewards
Useful at end game?: Yes
Expansion: Level 65-70 — Prophecy of Ahnket
Max Amount: 100
Where to find it: In the Currency tab of your character screen.
Source: Patrons earn 10 IRC each week, these are credited during the normal weekly reset on a Wednesday morning. Non-Patrons will earn 2 IRC each week. Your character will only ‘claim’ the free IRC if you log them at some point during the week. You can also buy IRC with credits, but you really should not.
Spend: When you are eligible for an IRC roll an IRC box will come up asking you if you wish to spend IRC. It will tell you how many IRC will be spent and when your next free roll will be. See Individual Reward Charges Page for more info.
Planar Currencies
Planar Currencies are mostly earned by completing Planar activities. There have been many Planar Currencies across the expansions, most of these were condensed down into the single ‘Void Stone’ currency that now covers everything up to level 65.
Planarite
Useful at end game?: Yes – Used to buy/upgrade Gear, and buy fluff.
Expansion: Used in all expansions.
Max Amount: 200,000
Where to find it: In the Currency tab of your character screen.
Source: Drops from all Planar creatures/activities at all levels.
Spend: Used to buy many items, including gear and fluff items.
The main end game item to buy with Planarite is Tenebrean Planar Attuner, found in the crafting>reagents section of the rift store. Just keep buying Tenebrean Planar Attuners so you don’t end up maxed on Planarite!
Void Stone
Useful at end game?: Only for buying fluff from old content.
Expansion: All up to 65.
Where to find it: In the Currency tab of your character screen.
Source: Rewarded from many Daily/Weekly Quests, as well as zone quests and instanced content. All content up to Level 65. Void Stone replaced many older currencies that were removed.
Spend: Used in the Rift Store or at vendors to buy many many items, most of which is just fluff.
Illusory Mote
Useful at end game?: No, Except for cheevos.
Expansion: Level 60-65 — Nightmare Tide
Where to find it: This currency is an item in your bags.
Source: These come from the Nightmare Caches dropped every 10 stages of a Nightmare Rift. The higher level caches are more likely to have Motes inside them.
Spend: Used to upgrade Nightmare Seals.
Historic Planar Currencies
These currencies have now been removed from the game, you cannot earn them or spend them.
Most of the items you used to buy with them are still for sale, you can buy them using Void Stones, Planarite, or Platinum.
Corrupted Sourcestone
Expansion: Level 1-50 — Vanilla
For buying level 5-20 gear from Quartermasters. These items can now be bought with Platinum.
Cursed Sourcestone
Expansion: Level 1-50 — Vanilla
For buying level 20-40 gear from Quartermasters. These items can now be bought with Platinum.
Vile Sourcestone
Expansion: Level 1-50 — Vanilla
For buying level 30-45 gear from Quartermasters. These items can now be bought with Platinum.
Inscribed Sourcestone
Expansion: Level 1-50 — Vanilla
For buying level 40-50 gear from Quartermasters. These items can now be bought with Platinum.
Empyreal Sourcestone
Expansion: Level 50-60 — Storm Legion
For buying level 50-60 gear from Quartermasters. These items can now be bought with Void Stones, or Platinum.
World Currencies
World Currencies are mostly earned by completing daily and weekly quests in the open world.
Vanilla didn’t have a specific World currency, in Storm Legion it was Infinity Stones, and in Nightmare Tide it was Void Stones.
Celestial Remnant
Useful at end game?: Yes – Used to buy/upgrade Bis level 70 gear.
Expansion: Level 65-70 — Prophecy of Ahnket
Where to find it: In the Currency tab of your character screen.
Source: Rewarded from many PoA Daily/Weekly Quests, as well as zone quests and instanced content.
Spend: Used to buy many items (gear, mounts, pets, etc) in the Rift Store or from various vendors around the PoA zones.
Captured Intel
Useful at end game?: Yes – Used to buy/upgrade Bis level 70 gear.
Expansion: Level 65-70 — Prophecy of Ahnket
Where to find it: In the Currency tab of your character screen.
Source: Primarily earned by completing Daily/Weekly quests in Vostigar Peaks. It can also be earned by killing the rares, completing zone events, or opening Intel caches throughout VP.
Spend: Spend your Intel at the vendor in Uttila East in VP. It can be used to buy level 70 Raid Rifts, gear items, upgrade parts and some fluff.
Fortress Token
Useful at end game?: Yes
Expansion: Level 65-70 — Prophecy of Ahnket
Where to find it: This currency is an item in your bags.
Source: Looted from ‘Cracking Skull’ zone events in Xarth Mire, and killing the boss in the QF LFR raid.
Spend: Used to buy items from the Mages of Alitto Special Quartermaster in Camp Quagmire, Zarth Mire.
Historic World Currencies
Infinity Stone
Expansion: Level 50-60 — Storm Legion
All items that were bought with Infinity Stones have now been changed to Void Stones.
Dungeon Currencies
Dungeon Currencies are mostly earned by completing dungeons at level. There has been a new Dungeon Currency for each expansion. The older ones were condensed down into the single ‘Void Stone’ currency that now covers everything up to level 65.
Tower Fragment
Useful at end game?: Yes – Save these to buy planar fragment boxes from the store.
Expansion: Level 65-70 — Prophecy of Ahnket
Where to find it: In the Currency tab of your character screen.
Source: Primarily earned in level 70 Expert dungeons.
Spend: For buying level 70 dungeon gear. However most players will save these to buy planar fragment boxes from the store.
Old but still good
Abyssal Crusader’s Marks

You can still spend these on gear in the Rift Store, though this would mostly be for unlocking wardrobe.

Source: Earned by completing level 70 LFR or Tier 1 raids, as well as various weekly quests from the PoA zones.
Spend: Used to buy Level 70 LFR and T1 Raid gear from the Rift Store.

These are used primarily for buying PVP gear.
PVE players may still want to farm for these so they can buy the gear items to unlock the wardrobe.
Favor
Useful at end game?: Yes – To buy PVP Gear and Fluff
Expansion: Used in all expansions.
Max Amount: 300,000
Where to find it: In the Currency tab of your character screen.
Source: Favor is gained from almost any activity or quest related to PvP. Killing an enemy player or being in a group/raid that kills an enemy player will provide you with favor.
Spend: Can be used to buy gear for PVP from the Rift Store, as well as some PVP fluff items. Can also be used to buy items from previous expansion PVP vendors to get the Wardrobes or items.
Challenger's Mark
Useful at end game?: Yes – To buy Gear
Expansion: Level 65-70 — Prophecy of Ahnket
Max Amount: 30
Where to find it: In the Currency tab of your character screen.
Source: Bought with Favor in the Rift Store > Equipment > Upgrade Parts > PVP
Spend: Can be used to buy level 70 gear for PVP from the Rift Store.
Old but still good
You can still spend the Nightmare Tide PVP Currencies on gear in the Rift Store, though this would mostly be for unlocking wardrobe.
Warmonger’s Mark
Expansion: Level 60-65 — Nightmare Tide
Source: Bought with Favor in the Rift Store > Equipment > Upgrade Parts > PVP
Historic PVP Currencies
These currencies have now been removed from the game, you cannot earn them or spend them.
Most of the items you used to buy with them are still for sale, you can buy them using Favor.

Rewarded during Rifts 5th Anniversary Celebrations during March/April 2016.
Otherworldly Sourcestone
From the Grim Harvest event in 2011. This was rerun as the Grim Remembrance event in 2018.
Dragon Tear
Awarded from quests during the Planar Menace event in August 2011.
Crystalline Rage
From the ‘War of the Wanton Maw’ event. This event still lives on in the ‘Saga of the Wanton Maw‘ questline.
Pyrite Doubloon
Pyrite Doubloons were rewarded from the weeklies for the first 2 years of Carnival, then they were changed to Auroral Doubloons.
Magma Opal
Awarded from quests during the Ashes of History event in october 2011.
Molten Gold Ingot
From the ‘War of the Wanton Maw’ event. This event still lives on in the ‘Saga of the Wanton Maw‘ questline.

From the ‘Spoils of War‘ event 4th of May to 22nd of June in 2011.

Awarded from quests during the Waves of Madness event in June 2011.

Mount Currencies
There are two Mounts that have special abilities that require a currency to activate.
Planar Pellets
Useful at end game?: Yes – For powering your mount.
Expansion: Used in all expansions.
Where to find it: This currency is an item in your bags.
Source: Planar pellets can be bought from the artifact vendor using lucky coins, or in Toks dungeon using Tok Tokens. Planar pellets are fully tradeable, so you may find some on the AH. There is also a very small chance of looting a planar pellet while foraging/mining.
Spend: Used primarily as fuel for the Opie mount. They are also used as part of the upgrade path for your planar crafted items.
Source Fuel
Useful at end game?: Yes – For powering your mount.
Expansion: Used in all expansions.
Where to find it: This currency is an item in your bags.
Source: Source fuel is available as loot drops from the ‘most wanted’ rare mobs in Vostigar Peaks, it can also be bought with Intel from the Uttila Resistance Quartermaster in Uttila East.
Spend: Used as fuel for the Jetpack Protoype mount.
Artifact Currencies
Earned by handing in Artifact sets.
Lucky Coin
Useful at end game?: Yes for buying Fluff.
Expansion: Used in all expansions.
Where to find it: In the Currency tab of your character screen.
Source: Gained by handing in Artifact Sets.
Spend: Spent in the Rift Store or at vendors to buy pets, mounts and other fluff items.
A Planar Nut
Useful at end game?: Yes for buying Fluff.
Expansion: Used in all expansions.
Where to find it: This currency is an item in your bags.
Source: Earned by handing in Unstable Artifact Sets.
Spend: Used to buy Planar Squirrel mounts from the Artifact vendor.
Puzzles and Minions
TOK Token
Useful at end game?: Yes – For Fluff
Expansion: Level 65-70 — Prophecy of Ahnket
Where to find it: In the Currency tab of your character screen.
Source: Tok Tokens are earned by completing Puzzles or Quests in Toks Dungeon.
Spend: Used to buy a mount, cape, and Portrait Frame. Also used to buy materials towards the Toks wardrobe sets.

Aventurine
Useful at end game?: Yes, for sending 4 hour missions.
Expansion: Used in all expansions.
Max Amount: 5000
Where to find it: Shown in the Minion UI.
Source: You will earn Aventurine by sending out missions from the 5/15min or 8hour decks. 1min adventures do not reward Aventurine. You can also buy Aventurine with credits, but there is no need to.
Spend: Aventurine can be spent to send out adventures from the 4 hour deck. These adventures will grant much higher level rewards than the other decks. You can also use it to ‘Hurry’ missions for instant completion, but you really should not.
Planar Champion Doubloons
Critter Bosses will spawn in the open world and drop a random Planar Doubloon once killed.
These Doubloons cannot be spent anywhere, so there is no point to farming them.

Source: This currency can be earned in game by killing Critter Bosses in the open world.
Spend: The vendors to spend this currency have never been added to the game.
Miscellaneous Currencies
Faelight Sparkle
Expansion: Used in all expansions.
Where to find it: These are found in the Quest Log Bag.
Source: Completing many different Activities at level while you have the quest active.
Spend: This Currency is credited towards the quest ‘Faelight Sparkle Extravaganza!’ which is part of the Fae Yule event. The quest rewards a random piece of T2 armour and the Gumdrop Levitation Mount.
Phenomenal Sparkle
Expansion: Used in all expansions.
Where to find it: These are found in the Quest Log Bag.
Source: Completing many different Activities at level while you have the quest active.
Spend: This Currency is credited towards the quest ‘Phenomenal Sparkles’ which is picked up in Tempest Bay. The quest can only be picked up or handed in by Patrons, but the currency can be earned without an active patron sub. The quest rewards a random piece of T1 armour.
Hunter's Token
Useful at end game?: Just for fluff.
Expansion: Level 1-50 — Vanilla
Where to find it: This currency is an item in your bags.
Source: Earned by Completing 2 daily quests in Droughtlands.
Spend: At the Hunters Camp in Droughtlands at
/setwaypoint 8533 6632
Perspice Hunting Token
Useful at end game?: No.
Expansion: Level 1-50 — Vanilla
Where to find it: This currency is an item in your bags.
Source: Defiants earn these by Killing rares in Scarwood Reach. Each rare will give a quest that awards the tokens when you hand it in.
Spend: There is no way to spend these. Once you collect 5 of them you will be able to hand in the daily meta quest for rare killing.

Kain Hunting Token
Useful at end game?: No.
Expansion: Level 1-50 — Vanilla
Where to find it: This currency is an item in your bags.
Source: Guardians earn these by Killing rares in Scarwood Reach. Each rare will give a quest that awards the tokens when you hand it in.
Spend: There is no way to spend these. Once you collect 5 of them you will be able to hand in the daily meta quest for rare killing.

Plaque of the Mountaineer
Expansion: Level 1-50 — Vanilla
Source: Earned by Completing daily quests in Iron Pine Peak.
Spend: Used to be needed to buy some snow gear from a vendor in the Chancel of Labors, Iron Pine Peak. These items can now be bought with Void Stones.
Freedom Sparkle
Expansion: Level 65-70 — Prophecy of Ahnket
Source: Added in 2018 as a reward for completing low level random dungeons. Very likely to have been related to the PRIME shard. There is no accompanying quest on LIVE.
